WORKSHOPS & MASTER CLASSES

CTAM PURPOSES
To foster a closer relationship among members
To encourage high standards of theatrical productions.
To stimulate interest in theatre in Michigan
To provide a means for the exchange of ideas/information about
theatrical production, acting, playwriting and the theatre arts

To meet these purposes, CTAM sponsors both
Regional Workshops and Master Classes

AUGUST 8 - 10, 2008 are the dates of CTAM's next MASTER CLASS

"DIRECTING: Basics and Beyond"
Whether you are a first-time director or one with some experiences,
this CTAM Master Class is designed for you.

Art Nemitz of Kalamazoo Civic is the experienced instructor. He has had many years of experience directing in community and educational theatre in southwester MI.

Many aspects of directing will be covered during this weekend class: Auditions, Casting, Script Analysis, Working with the Productions Staff, Blocking, Managing the Rehearsal Process, Typical Problem Areas. In addition, there will be time for participants to actually do some directing and get feedback.

LOCATION: The Ralph A. MacMullan Conference Center
On the beautiful shores of Higgins Lake
Roscommon, MI

The MacMullan Center offers modern facilities in an up-North atmosphere. Guests are lodged in comfortable twin-bed rooms. Cathedral ceilings and stone fireplaces add to the ambience. Hearty breakfasts and lunches offer a multitude of options to please any palate. Legendary dinners are cooked to perfection. A cookout on Higgins Lake is an added bonus. Opportunities for canoeing, hiking, swimming, or fishing are all available to enjoy when the work for the day is over.

 Costs for the weekend for food and lodging are $194 for a single room or $145
for a double, plus a $50 registration fee for individual CTAM members
or $60 for nonmembers.

REGIONAL WORKSHOPS

Usually 2-4 hours in length but can be up to a full day
Needs a local community theatre group such as yours to sponsor
CTAM will cover losses up to $200 as a way to encourage groups to host a workshop.
Registration open to your group members and members from surrounding area
CTAM Associate Members receive registration discount
Accreditation available for CTAM Associate Members
Intended to provide information about a theatre-related topic of interest to members

MASTER CLASSES

Usually a full 2-day workshop
Providing an in depth study of a theatre topic
Sponsored by CTAM and open to all
